Candle Magic dates back centuries to ancient times when candle burning was used for religious ceremonies and age-old symbolic rituals. Sacred candle rituals continue in modern times as we seek to explore the realm of magic and personal spiritual awareness within our own intuitive consciousness. 

A spell is a thought, a projection, a prayer, or an enchantment. Other religions use prayer, meditation, projection and ritual to produce an intended result. The success of the spell depends not only upon the way in which it is cast, but also upon the power of positive thinking and the ability to imagine and believe in the magic being created. 


All of our candles at White Magick Alchemy are handmade in the old Pagan tradition in small batches right here in our studio in the rolling hills of the Sonoma County, The Valley of the Moon, charged and witch blessed. All of our Witches Magick and Herbal Alchemy Magick Candles are original candle creations, designed and charged with intent under correct moon phases to assist you in your ritual spell workings. Each candle's color and essence is specific to each specific intent. Herbs, resins and crystal gemstones are sprinkled upon the top of our Herbal Alchemy Magick Candles which lend more power to ritual and spell workings. Special care should be taken when burning our Herbal Alchemy Magick Candles, as the herbs and resins can create a more intense flame. Magic is messy! Its no secret, we take our magic seriously here at White Magick. The candles that we create are made to order, as we don't have much room to store candles since our studio is so small. You can rest assured that you will receive quality hand poured candles, as we have been making and selling candles for close to 20 years.  Made from all natural wax, pure essential oils, essence oils, natural botanicals and pure cotton wick, free from harmful additives, animal and poly based products. We always use a high amount of oils to ensure a high scent throw while lit or not lit placed within your sacred space. 


All of the candles you find at White Magick Alchemy are all original designs created over 15 years ago. Lots of people have since copied our original candle designs, even copied the theme of what we do here! But no one can copy the real magic which we create here every day and share with our family of customers. And when you become one of customers, you become part of our magical family.


We don't make our candles in huge batches and we don't have a big factory where we roll our candles out. We don't buy candles from another company and simply drip on some wax and call it a handmade candle either. We make all of our candles by hand in small batches, charge and bless each of our candles with intent using our own handmade ritual oils, also made here at White Magick Alchemy. Deadly and Toxic Herbs in 21st Century Witchcraft

In historic times, many people utilized dangerous and toxic herbs and flowers such as Deadly Nightshade/ Atropa Belladonna, Henbane, Bryony, Foxglove, Lovage as well as other very deadly herbs, flowers, and berries. Most of these plants were on the path of being discovered, and it wasn't until utilized in a plethora of applications, smoking of the herbs and flowers, ingestion, skin applications, salves, ointments, oils and other tinctures, that their toxicity and deadly potencies were uncovered and realized.


In the 21st Century, experienced modern witches and magical practitioners take due caution with the herbs, flowers, berries, woods and ingredients that are used to create in spell oils, ointments, herbal blends, teas and other handcrafted magical aids, as since ancient times, we now know which herbs and flowers are "safe" as opposed to dangerous and toxic. With a myriad of beautiful, safe, loving and healing herbs, flowers, berries and other plant based ingredients readily available, we can choose wisely when we purchase ingredients which can be used to either create our own magical preparations and those we purchase from others who create magical offerings for us. Many of the most common toxic plants used in witchcraft in ancient times, such as Atropa Belladonna, are narcotic, hallucinogenic, cause spasmolytoc (pupil dilation), confusion, delirium, insomnia, twitching, convulsions, seizures, rage, violent heart palpitations and rapid heart beat, labored breathing, extreme pain in all areas of the body, joints, headache, vertigo, loss of consciousness and possible death. This is only a brief description of the many effects of these toxic plants.


I suppose my blog posting today is meant to serve as reminder to everyone to please choose and use any magical herbs, flowers, berries, plant extracts, oils and blends very carefully and use caution and be aware of the potential deadly and toxic risks associated with dangerous plants and plant extracts. There seems to be some sort of allure and idea that using the flowers, leaves, berries and woods from these toxic plants will make your magic that much more potent and powerful. Not true. While they seem to captivate the imagination of ancient witchcraft, there are much safer and appropriate ways to create magic in your life without allowing yourself to become enchanted with either the notion, name(s) or the magical intentional associations of these plants which are dangerous, toxic and life threatening.


Being a magical practitioner for most of my life, I have vast knowledge regarding the utilization of herbs in magic. Since I create handcrafted and witch-blessed magical offerings that contain herbs and natural plant extracts here at White Magick Alchemy, I beIieve that it would be very irresponsible and careless for me, as a herbal practitioner, and as a business owner, to market and sell dangerous, deadly, toxic plants and extracts. More importantly though, is the safety of those "people", customers, who use my magical spell oils, teas, herbal blends, and magical offerings. I would never intentionally put anyone's life or family at risk to glamorize my product offerings or to make money. Thats not how "I" roll. Nor would I ever feel comfortable having to market any magical aid which contains a WARNING blurb which explains to the buyer that the product they are purchasing from White Magick Alchemy was HIGHLY TOXIC, POISONOUS, and may be LETHAL IF INGESTED. When you are purchasing a legitimate magical aid, the last thing you should have to do is worry, or read capital letters that scream WARNING! DEADLY!... usually stated at the bottom of an online listing or at the bottom of the product(s) label. Thats just plain irresponsible on behalf of any business, company or online seller who crafts handmade magical offerings for public use.


A simple statement lets say, on the bottom of an Etsy listing, where a seller selling products containing these deadly and toxic plants release themselves from any liability, monetarily or otherwise arising from any accidents which should arise from the use of these herbs/flowers/oils/etc signifies how irresponsible that seller really is. I recently read in an Etsy product listing for an oil containing these deadly herbs and flowers this, and I just about laughed my ass off... " You are at least 18 years of age and understand that minors under 18 years of age who attempt to buy or who succeed to buy this product will be prosecuted."  ....  Really? Who is checking ID's here?
And prosecuted? I think the only person here that would be prosecuted is the seller! Hence the reasoning behind not selling these types of product offerings in the first place. Someone purchases this dangerous oil. That person's child gets a hold of it and ingests it, and becomes seriously ill, ends up in the hospital. You mean to tell me that the person who sold them the oil is not going to be held legally responsible or get slammed with a lawsuit? What if that child died? I shutter to think. This is dangerous practice, irresponsible practice, and ignorant practice.


Here's another interesting tidbit on the subject. I have know people who have either gotten possession of these types of plants or who have actually grown them themselves in their home gardens. These people changed. They went mad in a strange sort of way, I'm not kidding. My friends have witnessed this strange behavior as well and it is a very serious and scary thing. To see someone change, it's almost like they believed that they had some sort of higher power, which was in actuality simply a "false sense of power". Thinking became distorted and delusive, they became enveloped, almost as if encompassed with some sort of inner darkness, which was perceived by others as harmful, evil and perhaps even slightly demonic, as opposed to the righteous persona they were under the impression they were exhibiting. All I know is one lady's cat got into the garden and died.


So, for me, these sort of plants are not something I wish to incorporate into my magical offerings either personally or within my WMA offering lines. With all these amazing alternatives, ask yourself why? And if you have children, you know how to make the best and safest decisions for yourself and for your family. While magical aids such as spell oils, herbal mixes, ointments, ingestible herbs and teas are and will always be a part of what we do, always remember, please, be responsible. Make responsible choices when you purchase oils and other handmade magical offerings to assist you in your workings. Rest assured, all the organic and wildcrafted herbs and plant extracts I use here at White Magick Alchemy, will never ever harm you. We are here to help you, not harm you. For instance, the Witches Flying and Belladonna oils that I offer, are 100% safe and are created using alternative plants, oils and extracts. And they are just as effective as well. You don't have to put your life, your families life, your friends and your pets at risk here.


Your journey is your journey. If you use or choose to incorporate some of these toxic plants into your magical workings, I'm sure you are an experience practitioner and know how to use them appropriately. Be safe my magical witches! I am in no way trying to discourage your own path or make any recommendations on how you should conduct your own magic. However, I am entitled to make my own decisions for myself and for how I conduct and utilize herbs and whatnot in my magical workings, and as you have learned, I choose safety. For myself, my family, friends, familiars and customers. This message will hopefully touch a few practitioners, old and new alike, and help prevent the preventable. And for those just beginning, I want you to hear it first hand, and know the risks and know the truth. Magic is not meant to be perceived as glamorous, alluring or romanticized. Real magic is real magic. It is a thought, a projection, a prayer, an enchantment. The success of any magical working not only depends upon the way in which it is worked or cast, but also upon the power of positive thinking, positive intent, and the ability to imagine and believe in the magic being created ~

Imbolc, also known as Candlemas and Groundhog's Day, occurs at the beginning of February on February 2nd. It marks the middle of Winter and holds the promise of Spring. The Goddess manifests as the Maiden and the Goddess Brigid, the Goddess of Fire.

Wishing Everyone a Blessed 2012!~

Hi Everyone!

Well, here we go! Another year begins and its 2012! I can hardly believe last year went to fast! My father always used to tell me that when you get older, the years fly by, boy was he right... :' )

So, whats on the menu at White Magick Alchemy for 2012? My beautiful daugher Sydni will be graduating this year from High School and she is already taking the lead here at the shoppe. She's been working with me since she was about 5 years old, always interested in the craft, making candles, herbs, our retail shoppe, so its not surprising that she is going to jump right in and become a huge part of what we do here after she graduates. She currently works after school and has been for the last 2 years on a part time basis. But as the holidays approached, she worked tirelessly, sometimes 8 or 9pm right along with me. Oh, we had a great time too! We always have lots of fun when we all work together ~

Sydni has learned so much throughout the years, working side by side with me, that along her journey, she has pretty much become an herbalist! She knows her magick thats for sure. I couldn't be more pleased to have her start taking over more of the magick here, so now I'm really feeling changes beginning to take place and it feels awesome. I'm so proud of her, its just amazing to me, to see and feel all these changes come about! So when you think of White Magick Alchemy, envision two blondes, having fun with the magick and having a great time with you too! I thank you so much for your love and support of our magickal family here ~ We thank you!~

Also on the menu here is New Magickal Offerings! I have a plethora of new visions and ideas I hope to debut this year. Its basically been all about time, I just never seem to have enough time to create things I want to share in the shoppe. Hopefully this year, and with Sydni's help, I can finally get those ideas created to share with you all!

As many of you know, we rebuilt the White Magick Alchemy website, so in addition to the Etsy shoppe, we are now able to offer a wider range of magickal offerings to everyone. Our main focus is always "creating" and charging the magick with our hands, but there are so many cool things out there, the new site provides a venue in which we can share some really neat and unique offerings, tools and magickal supplies. My vision is to have White Magick Alchemy be a place where people go to find really unique offerings, as well as a place you can purchase the tools necessary to create your own magick. We already have some witchcraft staples available, and although you will find those necessary items, WMA is never going to turn into a shoppe thats over-run with plethora of "stuff".  What I want to do is make WMA the place to go for beautifully handmade magickal offerings, some made by others as well, unique magickal decor items, and of course, our own handmade and witch blessed magickal candles, herbal alchemy, and all the other ideas I have brewing in my head. So stay tuned and watch the magick be revealed!

Its no secret, there are a few people on Etsy, one of which was my own customer, who for years purchased my candles and offerings, have copied and capitalized on the White Magick Alchemy Shoppe, the "Old World aka Old Ways" theme, shoppe look, product offerings and candles that WMA has been creating for many many years. Trust me when I say this, I've been doing this for almost 20 years, I did extensive research before bringing White Magick Alchemy online, and no one was doing "Old World Magick", no one was doing the kinds of candles and offerings I was making and offering in my shoppe. These people basically capitalized on White Magick Alchemy to the fullest extent. Blatant replications of WMA product offerings are not White Magick Alchemy offerings. And copying someone else's shoppe theme, name, products, product names, etc, really speaks volumes about what kind of people are out there and how desperate people can actually be.  This old customer of mine even changed her shop name several times before utilizing word "Alchemy" for her business name to represent her Etsy shop, perhaps to trick or mislead, who knows why she choose a name for her business from the shop she copies. But she'll be the first to defend her actions by saying things like "She didn't invent the word Alchemy" and "She didn't invent drippy candles" or "She didn't invent the "whatever". The woman is constantly in "Defense Mode" because she knows very well that she copied everything about and contained within White Magick Alchemy to build herself a business. Why would she constantly feel compelled to defend herself if she didn't have something to hide?  My customers see it. Heck! You bring most of it to my attention! She also considers WMA as her "competition" and considers her shop, Witchcrafts Artisan Alchemy, my competition, justifying her actions by saying she is "benchmarking her competition". I don't consider someone who uses WMA as a template, copies my business, shoppe theme, my product offerings, my candles, and everything about WMA as any sort of competition. Especially someone who hides behind a veil of deceit. This is a woman who is obsessed with me, stalks me, who stalks my Facebook page, and denounces my FB postings on a daily basis. I feel sorry for a person like that. The funny thing is..... watch... She's gonna go postal on this post!  a) Because she's reading it (who has that kind of time on their hands? lol) and b) because she's in defense mode, and c) she simply cannot contain herself from going completely mad on the subject. LOL I could literally write a novel on this subject, but rather than bore you with the ridiculous details, I rest my case.  : D  And its just not me, there are so many artists on Etsy that have the exact same issues with these copy cats as I do. Its a real drag for some of us. Imagine you're stuff being copied. Its negative energy and if you are living a spiritual path like we are, its not in any way positive light or anything good.

For anyone who has a problem with my posting here, I believe that we all need to be true to ourselves and I am being true to myself by my writings.  I also believe there is nothing wrong with letting people know what kind of energy is out there because there are some really dishonest people out there. I am not a dishonest person, therefore, I can be honest with you and share my feelings. I have nothing to hide. However there are many who do. So, with that said, for 2012, I wish my copy-catys both spiritual peace, awakening and renewal. Perhaps this year they will be able to tap into their own creative energy instead of feeding off of someone else. I think its very important, that if you are a true artist, to create "your own" stuff and not mimic and replicate someone else's creative insight. Otherwise you're not being true to yourself. Just like all the other computer companies are copying Apple's iPhones and iPads and stuff. They see that something is popular and people like it, so they create their own spin-off designs to get their share of the action. Sadly, thats human nature huh? I don't know.... its just a waste of energy if you ask me. But 2012 is about change and renewal for me personally, so perhaps I felt like expressing my true feelings on this to banish that which does not serve. I just want to be left alone to do what I do without being stalked and copied, is that too much to ask?

For the rest of you beautiful people! Health! Happiness! Love! Peace! Abundance! Spirit! Who knows what this Mayan Calendar thing is all about, but I hope what it means is that the world is heading towards a new spiritual awakening. Since the beginning of time, countries, people, have been at war. I'm not the type of person who gets excited about hurting another person, but strangely, most people are. Why? Are the majority that hung up on money and being prosperous that they can harm others without a second thought? Lets hope that this year brings change and renewal!

I would like to thank each and every one of you, my friends, customers, for digging what we do over here. A lot of hard work goes into every single creation here, charging and blessing our candles, oils and herbs, its a very serious thing we do. And to read all the positive feedback, how everyone loves my (our) stuff, well, its just a beautiful thing. I thank you so much for supporting our magick shoppe and more importantly, I'm really glad everyone can feel the magick! Because we do, every day!

So, now as we begin this new year, lets all pray for that spiritual awakening ok?
